In the mid-90's, in response to a demand from several local non-profits, Manna established a program to serve the real estate needs of other organizations as well as itself. The program consisted of offering other non-profits development services from in-house staff that perform the same work for Manna. The logic for doing this went as follows: non-profit real estate development projects take a long time to move through government approval pipeline. Business conditions, e.g. interest rates, market demand, availability of product, are subject to great fluctuations. Therefore, Manna could help itself and help other non-profits by offering them Manna's in-house expertise, thus saving them money and while at the same time increasing Manna's revenues. Manna also helps some for-profit companies that develop affordable homeownership properties.
